3G Philly partnered with 3GNJ and The Esther Raab Holocaust Museum and Goodwin Education Center to bring together 3Gs in south Jersey. We shared stories about ourselves and our families, brainstormed creative ways to work together as 3Gs and came away with a renewed sense of energy for this important work!

3G Philly traveled to New York City to see the Tony Award-winning play, Leopolstadt. Partnering with other 3G groups, we had the opportunity to connect and reflect before and after attending the show and cast talk back.

Leopoldstadt Play is set in the Jewish community of Vienna and begins in 1899, following three generations of one family through 1955. Although one family’s story, it is all of our stories: antisemitism, family, tradition, fear, loss, and grief.

Thank you to the cast and crew for your time after the play to share your insights and the impact the play has had on you. Perhaps the most poignant words of the evening were from Aaron Neil about the responsibility of others like him to ensure “never again.”

A meaningful evening we will not forget!

3G organizations around the country teamed up with Tony McAleer and Peter Hutchison for a powerful virtual program on May 16th around the documentary, The Cure for Hate.

The Cure for Hate traces former neo-Nazi and Holocaust denier Tony McAleer’s journey of atonement to bear witness to the horrors of Auschwitz and examine the throughline to modern day violent extremism. The film serves as Holocaust education at its most urgent and personal, and a powerful argument for radical compassion in the face of division.

Yom HaShoah Commemorations - April 2023

Over the course of one week, 3G Philly co-sponsored five Yom HaShoah events. Thank you for your help in creating meaningful Yom HaShoah programs.  What a powerful week, honoring our grandparents and those who perished.

On January 19, 2023 we partnered with other 3G groups around the country for "3Genealogy: Uncovering Our Family Histories.” The program highlighted genealogy with a focus on helping you on your genealogy research journey.

On January 11, 2023 we partnered with the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation and the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Philadelphia for a program on the current state of Antisemitism and what we can do about it. The program was led by Andrea Heymann, Associate Regional Director of the ADL Philadelphia.

Thank you to award winning author, Pat Black-Gould, for sharing her book, The Crystal Beads Lalka's Journey with us. This beautifully written story, with illustrations by a 3G, shares the experience of a hidden child and is written in a way that leaves an indelible impression on both adults and children.

On July 28, 3G Philly visited the Holocaust Museum and Education Center. We enjoyed a viewing of their amazing new exhibit in Elkins Park, which serves to educate 5th-12th graders about the Holocaust using personal Holocaust artifacts belonging to survivors, liberators, and resistors and their families.

We look forward to this continued partnership!

Yom HaShoah Event for Families

On Sunday, May 1, nearly 70 3Gs and their families gathered together at the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza for our Yom HaShoah event. 3G Philly was proud to partner with the Holocaust Remembrance Foundation and Friends Select for this meaningful program.

3G Philly Board Member and Senior Manager of Operations for the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation, Sophie Don, shared information about the Holocaust Memorial Plaza while 2G, Rene Boni lent her guitar and beautiful voice. Local artist, Danielle Brief, worked with the children to create rocks to put next to the Memorial.

Partnership with the Philadelphia Holocaust Remembrance Foundation:

On Sunday, June 27, we gathered together at the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza. Fellow 3G, Sophie Don, educated us on the plaza and how it became the first public monument in North America to memorialize the victims of the Holocaust. It was wonderful connecting with other 3Gs and discussing the inherent bonds we all share.

On Thursday, September 30, we welcomed author, podcaster and fellow 3G, Rachael Cerrotti for a conversation about her new book, “We Share the Same Sky.”
